INDIVIDUAL PROFILE

STEVEN R. TOMBALAKIAN, born Ridgewood, New Jersey, October 15, 1967. Education: Stevens Institute of Technology (B.E. Civil Engineering, 1990); Stevens Institute of Technology (M.E. Environmental Engineering, 1993); Seton Hall University School of Law (J.D. 1997). Admitted as a Member of the New Jersey Bar in 1997; District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1997; New York Bar in 2001; Southern District of New York in 2001; United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2002.

Mr. Tombalakian's practice emphasizes land use, zoning, environmental and municipal law and commercial litigation. He has represented property owners, developers and redevelopers, municipalities and not-for-profit entities on a wide variety of matters. Also licensed as a professional engineer and planner, Mr. Tombalakian began his career with a consulting engineering firm where he worked on many civil and environmental engineering projects throughout New Jersey. Mr. Tombalakian has considerable practical design, planning and construction experience which he utilizes to aid and advise clients as part of his legal practice. With this unique background, Mr. Tombalakian is frequently called upon to help clients navigate the increasingly complex regulatory maze, and is a skilled litigator before the state and federal courts.

Mr. Tombalakian frequently lectures for the National Business Institute on New Jersey zoning and municipal law, and is a contributing author of the treatise New Jersey Zoning and Land Use, 2nd Edition (Juris Publishing, 2008); author of "Third Circuit Broadens Reach of CERCLA to Encompass 'Contractually Responsible Parties'" (ABA State and Local Government News, Spring 2006) and co-author of "Ending Waste Flow Control," New Jersey Law Journal, 168 N.J.L.J. 28 (April 1, 2002).

Mr. Tombalakian is a member of the Borough of Madison Planning Board, New Jersey State Bar Association, Environmental/Land Use/Business Law Sections (ISRA Subcommittee) and NJ-NAIOP (Regulatory Affairs Committee).
